The Best of the Grateful Dead kicks off 2015 and the 50th anniversary of the Dead. This is the first time that there has been a 2 CD best of collection. The existing “The Very Best of the Grateful Dead” is a single disc of tracks selected based on the popularity/sales of the tracks. This new collection has been compiled to highlight classic favorites from a fan point of view.
Reissue of this classic live DVD from the Rock icons. The Grateful Dead - A View from the Vault is over 2-1/2 hours of live concert footage from the historic concert at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA in July of 1990. Jerry, Mickey, Bill, Phil, Brent and Bob thrill a packed stadium with the classic performance style that is uniquely their own. This contains both day and night footage, including the first ever video released version of the huge hit "A Touch of Grey". This DVD version contains over an extra hour of additional footage shot from Cardinal's Stadium during the same tour.
The DVD features four sets the Dead played in Oakland and Anaheim, (the Anaheim sets are complete; due to length limitations, three songs have been excised form the first set in Oakland), on their legendary tour with Bob Dylan, and right on the heels of their surprise hit album, In The Dark, and Top 10 single, 'Touch of Grey.'
This third installment in the View From The Vault series of video releases features the band at Shoreline in June of 1990, with the middle show of a three-day stand that would, sadly, prove to be the West Coast swan song of longtime keyboardist Brent Mydland, who passed away just weeks later, a few days after the completion of the Dead's summer tour.
