When the single "Kiss Me" was featured on the soundtrack for 1999's NEVER BEEN KISSED and reached the Top 10, many assumed that Sixpence None The Richer was a new band. The band, formed in New Braunfels, Texas in the early '90s, was in fact four albums old at that point-if you include the curious 1996 stopgap release TICKETS FOR A PRAYER WHEEL as a proper album.The disc is something of an expanded CD single for "Within a Room Somewhere," a track from Sixpence None the Richer's second album, THIS BEAUTIFUL MESS. This song appears here in four versions: radio edit, demo, remix, and original. However, the other tracks on this album-length CD more than make up for the repetition. Sixpence None the Richer's greatest asset is Leigh Bingham's expressive voice, which often sounds not unlike a more subtle and controlled Tori Amos and perfectly fits the sympathetic folk-pop settings of "Dresses" and "Carry You."

These 10 tracks will be well known to classic rock aficionados everywhere.Guitarist Leslie West was one of the biggest guitar heroes of the early '70s, taking Eric Clapton's fluid blues riffs and turbocharging them with the energy and explosiveness of Led Zeppelin. One of rock radio's most frequently played tracks, "Mississippi Queen," is featured, as well as such metallic rockers as "Don't Look Around," "Never in My Life," and "Roll Over Beethoven," and more tranquil moments such as "Boys in the Band" and "Theme for an Imaginary Western."

This album, originally released on Musicor Records in 1971, features country music's greatest singer paying tribute to one of its legendary songwriters. The honoree is Leon Payne, a gifted instrumentalist who topped the country charts in 1949 with his recording of "I Love You Because," but who is remembered today for the thousands of country songs he penned, among them the standards "They'll Never Take Her Love From Me," "Blue Side of Lonesome," "Take Me," "Lost Highway," "I Love You Because" and "Things Have Gone To Pieces." Jones, who had had hits with two Payne songs in 1965, recorded this tribute in the year following Payne's death.With such a wealth of material to choose from, Jones and producer Pappy Daily had little trouble finding ten stellar numbers for this album. Tracks include rerecordings of Jones' two Payne-penned hits, "Take Me" and "Things Have Gone to Pieces," as well as "With Half A Heart," and "The Selfishness In Man," the last a maudlin heartstring-puller that would come across as ludicrous from a lesser talent but is profoundly moving in Jones' hands. One of Jones' best tribute albums.
